FLX Mesh is a community-built mesh network using Meshtastic to bring long-range, license-free communication to the Finger Lakes region of New York. Whether you’re hiking the gorges, boating out on the lake, or simply at home, Meshtastic provides a free and encrypted communications platform.

How It Works #
Meshtastic uses inexpensive LoRa radios to form a mesh network where messages hop from node to node across long distances. A single node on a hilltop can relay messages across an entire lake or valley. The more nodes in the network, the stronger and more reliable it becomes.
How Can I Help? #
If you have access to a high elevation location (for example a bell tower, or on the top of a hill) adding your own node or allowing us to place a FLX Mesh owned node can greatly increase the reliability of the network. There are even comercially available solar powered nodes, meaning it doesn’t need power or internet where it is placed - just good line of sight to your community or another repeater!
